A forged wheel starts as a billet of 6000-series aluminium and is die-forged under up to 18 million pounds of pressure, which reorganises the grain structure of the metal. The result is lighter and stiffer than cast can manage at the same strength. Unsprung mass is the most useful weight you can take off a car, because the suspension then controls the wheel instead of fighting it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBBS mills the inside of the spoke area using a patented process, guided by FEM analysis, so material comes out only where it carries no load.
